Welcome to the “School-Based Behavioral Health” our initiative aimed at enhancing the mental health landscape for Georgia’s youth. A groundbreaking initiative in partnership with the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services and the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University.
Our School-Based Mental Health Professional Pipeline (SMHPP) targets high-need school districts in underserved and rural counties in Georgia. The need for mental health services has never been more critical, especially amidst the challenges brought on by COVID-19. This Fellowship is available to prospective MSW students who apply to the School-Based Mental Health Professional Pipeline (SMHPP)/DOE program. If admitted to the MSW program and selected as a Fellow, following the application and interview process, students will enroll in the required MSW courses and complete the internship requirements over two years in one of the counties identified by the grant as being rural and/or underserved. The purpose and goal of the fellowship is to address the increasing demand for trained mental health professionals in schools and different communities in Georgia.
Wellstar College Transforming Lives event “A Community Action Poverty Simulation Experience” This event provided a unique opportunity for participants to experience some structural barriers and the resulting social and emotional consequences of living in poverty.

Micro-credentials are digital records of a learner’s successful completion of educational activities that lead to professional skills and competencies verified by an expert. These professional skills and competencies are driven by specific workforce demands. The Wellstar College of Health and Human Services offers microcredentials that allow learners (community members, students, staff, and faculty) to develop these work-based skills and competencies in short, focused, and often stackable experiences.
